Tour Guide
Julien Thomas (they/them) is a Brooklyn-based visual artist, writer, and cultural historian whose work explores memory, place, and history. Julien is the founder of Floriography Studio NYC and the 2026 Artist-in-Residence at the Stonewall National Monument Visitor Center. Their interdisciplinary practice draws from years of documenting feminist and LGBTQ+ history through research, oral history, and public education. They are the author of Generation Queer (Lee & Low Books, 2025), and their work has been recognized by the Publishing Triangle, National Council for the Social Studies, Curve Power List, Queer History Boston, and Massachusetts Transgender Political Coalition.

I give Christopher Street Tours because...

They are opportunities for intergenerational connections. These tours keep our community’s history alive in the streets everyday and honor all the work that brought us to this moment.

What inspires you to share LGBTQ+ history?

Learning LGBTQ+ history can open up possibilities in our minds + hearts for our lives and our collective futures. It gives us the tools to plan the next demonstration, build a connection with an elder, and tap into our own self-expression and creativity.

Best NYC Recommendation

Interference Archive or Lesbian Herstory Archives for exploring history up close. Read love letters and see activist poster designs for a day!
